Thailand offers many incredible ways to spend your holiday, from the exciting streets of Bangkok to the rainforests in the north to the islands in the south.
We will be arriving in Phuket on March 18th and spending the first few days in the north west of Phuket island at Sala Phuket on Mai Khao beach about 20 minutes north of Phuket airport.
The area has about 5km / 3 miles of beach with a handful of great accommodation options all along the beach area to suit any budget / style of holiday.
The day before the wedding we will move south to Sri Panwa, the wedding venue, about an hour south of Mai Khao beach. We will be at Sri Panwa until March 27th when we will jet off somewhere for a honeymoon. There are many different accommodation options within a short walk / drive of Sri Panwa.
For those who wish to do the same thing (except for the honeymoon part…) we have organised discounted room rates at some of the following accommodation options.
Our Wedding Planning team at Take Us To Thailand have organised discounted rates for our wedding party at seven hotels, three at Mai Khao Beach and four at Cape Panwa. To make it easier for guests paying in various currencies we've arranged it such that guests will be able to pay the hotel directly rather than going through Take Us To Thailand, who are based in Australia.
Booking forms and/or links can be obtained from the buttons below each venue option listed below.
For pricing and accommodation offers for each hotel please read the accommodation guidelines here:
For those who fancy a splurge on a spectacular pool villa with vistas over the cape or simply want to minimize wedding day travel.
For those who want a great, reasonably priced hotel within walking distance or a short cab ride to the venue. This hotel has recently changed hands from the Regent to Amatara. The booking form is still branded The Regent but will work just fine! All pricing, services and rooms are the same.
A Phuket institution, the first resort to be built on the island over looking a white sandy beach. Very close to the venue, it’s an older hotel with newer 2-bedroom villas for families.
The Kantaray Bay is the sister hotel to the Cape Panwa Hotel. Rooms are good and slightly cheaper than Cape Panwa Hotel and share its pool and facilities.
We have discounted rates agreed at the first three options here, all are a short walk from each other along Mai Khao beach.
Best for couples and singles sharing (and foodies!)
We will be staying here and hosting a sunset welcome cocktail evening on Monday March 21st for those who’ve flown in over the weekend. The food here is incredible!
Well set up for families with great options for couples or singles sharing.
There is a great kids club and it also has babysitting options for 250THB per hour (about $8 USD). It is a very short 20 metre walk along the lawn or beach to Sala Phuket where you’d be very welcome at the pool bar during the day (in exchange for buying a few Chang beers!)
A great value option further from Sala Phuket than the Renaissance, but it does have some great family rooms with kiddie beds and a kiddie bathroom.
To book this option, please email accommodation@takeusthailand.com with your booking needs.
Great for couples and singles sharing and those who want to spend a bit less on accommodation. And for those of you who remember what Thailand used to be like before the large resort developments took over the idyllic landscape, these are some really sweet little cottages on the beach.
All walk-able to Sala Phuket or a short cab ride. We are unlikely to have room blocks or agreed discounts at these options, but Anna and team at Take us To Thailand may be able to get you a good rate.
There are masses of wonderful places to visit in South East Asia on your way to or from Phuket if you wanted to make a bigger trip of it. But, if you want to fly direct into Phuket, here are some good options for flight routes to check out:
Jetstar flies direct from Melbourne
Thompson offers high season flights direct to Phuket from London Gatwick
British Airways offers direct flights from London Heathrow that make a momentary stop in Bangkok to re-fuel (no getting off the plane required!) so can get you there in around 12 hours and 40 minutes.
Emirates via Dubai (we did this on our reccie trip and it was great)
Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong
Air China via Beijing (although if you’d ask James he’d tell you to go with the other two first unless Air China was significantly cheaper…)
Air China & Hainan Airlines fly direct to Phuket
Shanghai Airlines fly direct from Shanghai Pudong
Dragon Air, Thai AirAsia & HK Express fly direct from Hong Kong
All little ones are very welcome to join the Sunset Welcome Cocktails at Sala Phuket and the Recovery Afternoon at Sri Panwa.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate kiddies at the ceremony or the reception. Both spaces are surrounded with pools and water features so they aren't too child friendly... Babysitters can be arranged to come to rooms at the venue or at a nearby hotel upon request.
For those with small babies you are welcome to bring them to the ceremony and reception in a buggy / stroller as needed.
For the time when we will be based at Mai Khao beach, the Renaissance hotel has a great kids club with all the activities you could think of (yes, Sarah was lost in there for hours). Its dinky pool and slide are pictured above.
Most of the hotels offer some form of babysitting; this is most likely to the be chef from the hotel kitchen that will allow them to play with knives and chop chilies… Just kidding! They are hotel approved babysitters and cost around $10 USD per hour.
There are plenty of things to do on Phuket itself. Here's a link to a great top 10 list from Expedia.
Closer to the date we will be updating the group with the activities we will be planning which everyone is welcome to book directly with the service operators. Some suggestions are:
Scuba Dive or Snorkel around Phi Phi Island
Kayak around the limestone cliffs of Krabi
Stroke a tiger at Tiger Kingdom (make sure you go after lunch to avoid any mauling...)
Take an Elephant Safari through the Thai Jungle
Play Golf at Missions Hills Phuket
Boat trip to James Bond Island
Deep Sea Fishing around the Similan Islands
Local Thai massages overlooking the Andaman Sea
Lazing by the pool with cocktails in hand
Playing a spot of ping pong with the girls in Patong
